The Member of Parliament (MP), for Fanteakwa South, Honourable Kofi Okyere-Agyekum, has said that about One hundred MP, have declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, these Members of Parliament out of the 137 MP on the side of the NPP, believe in the visions of the Vice President and therefore wants him to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections.
“It’s against this background that we are declaring our support for him. He’s very innovative and creative with the digital innovations he’s brought. We are not the only people declaring our support for him- Even the Mamponghene and Osafo-Marfo among others have declared their support”, he spoke on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV.
He told Kwaku Dawuro that the since Parliament has reconvened, the MPs will group themselves into three, so that they wouldn’t mix parliamentary duties with their campaign duties for Dr. Bawumia.
“We wouldn’t want to divert attention from our Parliamentary duties as Parliament reconvenes. However, we will still make time to ensure that we also accompany him like we did accompany him to the funeral of the late Lepowura Alhaji Jawula in Salaga in the Savanah Region”, he said.
He confirmed speculations that the 40 MPs were on that journey with Dr. Bawumia not because they desperately wanted to attend the funeral, but they went because of the Vice President.
“We’ve thrown our weight behind Bawumia not because of his personality, but because of our love for the party. Because we believe he’s the best person to help the party break the eight-year jinx. He’s so competent to the extent that the many stride the NPP had made wouldn’t have been possible without him,” he stressed.
