Fenerbahçe defender, Alexander Djiku and seven other players have joined the Black Stars camp in Accra as they prepare for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
Alongside Djiku, players including Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Ernest Nuamah, Majeed Ashimeru, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Jerome Opoku, and Abdul Mumin have arrived, bringing the squad total to 19. Six more players are expected to join soon.
The team began training with 11 players during their first session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening. The Black Stars’ technical staff anticipates the remaining players, including late call-ups, to join the camp by Tuesday.
Ghana will take on Sudan in the first leg of the AFCON qualifiers on Thursday, October 10, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
After a rocky start to their qualifying campaign, securing only one point from two matches, Otto Addo and his team will be looking to secure maximum points in these two critical fixtures to revive their AFCON qualification hopes.
Training continues today at 4:30 p.m., with preparations ramping up for the upcoming matches.
Fans, however, will not be permitted to attend today’s or tomorrow’s training sessions.
