Head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Under 20 Team, Desmond Ofei, has reiterated that the goal of his team is to qualify to the 2025 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Chile.
He rehashed this message in his post-game interview after Ghana beat Senegal 1-0 in its second Group C outing in the competition that is taking place in Egypt.
Ghana drew 1-1 with D.R. Congo in its opening game and followed it up with the win over the defending champions courtesy an Emmanuel Mensah goal in the 14th minute.
The win pushes Ghana closer to qualifying to the quarterfinals of the AFCON and a step closer to qualifying to Chile. Making it to the AFCON semis is enough to progress to the World stage and that is what Desmond Ofei is emphasizing.
“Our main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. That’s the focus; each match and positive result take us a step closer…we will fight, prepare well and give our best [against Central African Republic]” he said.
Ghana take on Central African Republic in its final Group C game on Thursday, May 8 at 18:00 GMT.
