The Member of Parliament(MP) for Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, Hon Alex Blankson, has pleaded with the Ministry of Communication to give an additional one month grace period for Ghanaians who are yet to re-register their sim cards.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Hon Blankson said that “I am aware this is the second deadline given to defaulters of the sim card re-registration, but I am pleading with the Ministry in charge to give additional one month so those who are yet to register do so. Some of the legitimate concern is the access to the Ghana card, giving another grace period will be of great help to people who are not yet registered”.
”The sim card re-registration will help mitigate fraudulent activities and tighten our security system. Government should have done this 20 years ago, Ghana would have been a step higher than it is now”, he added.
He advised Ghanaians to get their sim cards re-registered and not wait till the actual deadline dates, to avoid future repercussions.
