Ministry of Education Is Committed To Resolving The Disruptions In The Food Supply Chain -Kwasi Kwarteng

The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi  Kwarteng, has assured students at the College of Education of its swift response in addressing the disruptions in the supply of food in the various institutions ahead of November 7th ultimatum.

Speaking on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Kwasi Kwarteng said that ‘the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of Education gives some amount of money to support the various Colleges but half of the amount goes into their feeding and the other half goes into the training allowances for the student. These monies are sent every semester, the last time they received money from the Ministry of Finance was last semester, and they are yet to receive money for this semester. Its out these same money that are used to pay for food supply. The food shortage problem has nothing to do with the monies they receive from the ministry, the suppliers are saying they can’t supply the food because by the time they are paid, the money depreciates due to inflation and they run on a loss”.

The destruction in the supply chain is due to inflation. For the interim, there’s food to take care of the students till 7th December- we are making commitment and pledge to everyone that the ministry will  see to it that the problem is resolved amicably before the 7th November deadline to continue the supply. The current scheme on the allowance policy is still in place and that is the position of government”, he added.

He assured of government’s commitment to addressing the disruptions is the food supply change ahead of November 7th ultimatum.
