Member of Parliament for Tano and Minister of State at the office of the President, Honorable Freda Prempeh, says it is unacceptable to hold the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta responsible for lack of funds for works, and also disagrees on the rate at which people regard him as incompetent.
In an interview on Movement In The Morning with Kwaku Dawuro, she noted that although Mr Ken Ofori Atta is in charge of of the state’s finances, he does not have the power to solely decide on what to use the money for.
She asserted ”I won’t agree if someone tells me it is the Finance Minister who who refuses to assist people financially to work. The Finance Minister makes every single person get a share of his cake, and when a project is presented, the budget attached to it is sometimes reduced”
Adding that ”Our tax system and income generation is not like that of the foreign countries, which makes you pay tax even on bottled water, so if our finances aren’t working as planned, we can’t put all the blame on Ken Ofori Atta or make him look incompetent.”
