Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako has penned a contract extension which will see him stay at the club until at least 2024.
The club officially announced it via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
The 32-year-old has been an integral part of the current Phobian squad, scoring 2 and assisting another in seven matches in the ongoing campaign.
The former Great Olympics player is currently leading the Black Galaxies in camp as they prepare ahead of the CHAN tournament in Algeria next year.
Awako was pleased with the board for rewarding his efforts with an extension of his contract.
“I am very happy to have extended my contract with this beautiful family. It’s amazing because this is my childhood club and it is a club I have always wanted to play for before I quit football in future. With this opportunity, I will continue to work hard and promote the brand of our glorious club. Phoooobia! Masters.”
Awako joined Hearts of Oak amidst a controversial transfer from Great Olympics in 2021 which saw him stay out of action for over 100 days. He has since then been featured 35 times.
He was also instrumental in the club’s FA cup triumph last season.
