The Public Account Committee (PAC) of Parliament has warned state institutions against pricing in US dollars.
The committee says that contravenes the Bank of Ghana (BoG) regulations which urges all businesses including government agencies to do business in Ghana cedis.
The caution against the use of the dollar in local transactions in the country was during the committee’s sittings yesterday when the  Ministry of Energy took it’s turn and was asked to by the committee members to explain why Bui Power Company Limited charges the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in dollars instead of Ghana cedi.
That didn’t elicit a satisfactory answer from the Ministry which occasioned the committee to warn all government agencies against such acts.
However the Minister of Energy, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh in affirming the problem as pervasive among public institutions pledged to stop the practice.
He further blamed the state for not obeying its rules and regulations.
