Electronic Transaction Levy popularly known as  E-levy is a tax applied on transactions made on electronic or digital platforms.

Ghana will not be the first African country to implement a levy on digital transactions. Across Africa, some countries have failed whiles others have become successful in the introduction of such a levy.

Austria, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom have implemented a DST. Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia have published proposals to enact a DST, and Latvia, Norway, and Slovenia have either officially announced or shown intentions to implement such a tax.
