15 Of 100 Housing Units For Tidal Waves Victims To Be Ready In March 2023 – Ketu South MCE

Construction of housing units for the people of Salakope and other tidal waves disaster affected areas in the Ketu South Municipality is progressing speedily.

The first 15 two-bedroom self-contained apartments with electricity and water supply are almost at the roofing level and should be completed to pave way for another set of units to be built.

The MCE for Ketu South, Maxwell Lugudor in an interview with JoyNews at the island where the buildings are being constructed, noted that the welfare of the people who were traumatized due to the disaster is paramount to the NPP led administration and would make sure that all the affected families have decent accommodation with all the modern facilities.

Mr. Maxwell Lugudor noted that they were only able to get funding for 15 units from the Ghana Gas Company. He said they are looking for more funding to enable them construct the hundred housing units targeted. Mr. Lugudor noted that he hopes other institutions will help with funding.

The MCE explained that the plan is to have 100 housing units for the people, especially those whose homes have been submerged by the sea.

He announced that the 15 units will be completed by March 2023.

Mr. Lugudor noted that, other facilities like, school, good roads, market and playground for the children are part of the plan for the island housing unit project.

Residents who spoke to JoyNews said it is good news to have them relocated into newly built homes, but they need government to hasten the plans of getting the sea defense wall project started.
