The economic advisor and spokesperson for the vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako has said that the NPP government has defied all odds to improve the livelihood of the citizenry despite the lingering effect of the global crisis. quizzes
He cited instances during the erstwhile Mahama’s administration, when Ghanaians were paying exorbitant bills for electricity, but were not seeing the value of their money.
“In 2015, the NDC increased electricity bill by 78% but still we were sleeping in darkness. We had to resort to the use of generators and even with that we were not able to access fuel to power these generators. The pries of fuel had also increased astronomically”, he spoke on Movement in the morning show with Kwaku Dawuro.
According to him, aside from former President Kufuor’s era, it’s only under President Akufo-Addo administration that Ghanaians have never queued to buy fuel due to its shortage.
“Sometimes we need to remind people of certain circumstances we’ve been through as Ghanaians. During both Atta Mills’ and Mahama’s era as Presidents, Ghanaians always had to queue to buy fuel- and it was really affecting productivity. But after almost six years in government, there’s not even a single day that Ghanaians had to join queue to buy fuel because there’s shortage,” he explained.
He furthered that although every government encounter challenges, what the government is able to do to surmount those challenges and cushion Ghanaians are the important things that speaks well of them.
Hence, what Ghanaians must always consider in choosing who leads the country is to weigh all the political parties and know which of them could help better their livelihoods.
Adding that “we should ask ourselves as Ghanaians, what would have been our current state if Mahama was ruling during these global crises. During the days when there was no global crisis like COVID-19 and Russia-Ukraine war, what did they do better?
