Chris Hughton Did Well Against Angola But Still Has A Long Way To Go- Winfred Dormon

Former Black Starlets assistant head coach, Winfred Dormon, has praised Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton for his team’s performance in a double-header against Angola but preached against having lofty expectations so early in Hughton’s head coaching tenure.

Dormon said this in an interview with Citi Sports after Ghana drew 1-1 with Angola in Luanda after recording a 1-0 win over the same opponent at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on March 23 in AFCON 2023 qualifiers.

Ghana conceded a goal from Lucas Joao from the penalty spot in the 51st minute but got level after substitute Osman Bukari swept home from close range off a cross from fellow substitute Joseph Paintsil.

“It was a justifiable penalty call and they scored and this is where the coaching came in as good substitutions were made. Substitutes came on and really impacted the game so you have to give it to the technical team. They did a yeoman’s job.You have to give it to Chris Hughton but it is still early days. We still have a long way to go.”
