A Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Amaning, has urged the rank and file of the party to work assiduously to ensure that NPP gets more seats in Parliament in the 2024 elections.
This, he noted that the candidates to contest for the elections have a key role to play and thus would advise that the party ensures they select the right parliamentary candidates.
Speaking on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV and Wontumi Radio, he stated that “now that we want to win the seats in most of the constituencies, what we need to do as a party is to do a thorough research before selecting candidates to contest in some of the constituencies, if not the situation in Parliament now will become worse”.
Meaning the hung parliamentary system will repeat itself in the 9th Parliament.
Stressing that the party ought to ensure that the candidate it elects for the parliamentary contest are candidates that the constituents want.
“We also need to ensure that we have a free and fair primaries. Candidates shouldn’t be imposed on the people when they don’t like, or else it will go a long way to affect us in the general elections”, he added.
He urged executives of the party to ensure that NPP gets the majority in Parliament, with a wide margin- which he said will help make things easier for them in Parliament.
