Registrar for the Scholarship Secretariat, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, for the second time running has organized vacation classes for Senior High School students within the Abuakwa South Municipality pursuing science and science-related courses.
The six-week academic exercise started on March 1,2023 and ended yesterday 5th April,2023. The participants are quarterfinalists who represented their various Junior High Schools during the 2nd edition of the Kingsley Maths and Science Quiz. The students who were beneficiaries of the first edition of the classes who were then in form 1 had lessons in biology, chemistry, physics, elective Maths and English by facilitators from the Abuakwa State College (ABUSCO), Kibi.
To ensure the students had a sound mind and conducive atmosphere to learn , they were fed daily throughout the duration of the classes and transported from their various destinations to the Akosua Agyeiwaa Memorial Methodist JHS, Asiakwa, where the classes were held.
Dr. Agyemang on Monday 3rd April, 2023 took a brief visit to the Centre, where he had an interaction with the students and urged them to maximize the opportunity given them and also encouraged them to take the classes serious.
As part of the students parting package, each student was given a cash amount and some learning materials which were received by their parents. The amount is to purchase some learning items when school reopens. Hopefully, participants of the 3rd edition of the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz held last year, who are currently in their first years in SHS pursuing science and science related courses will take their turn after the Easter break.
The main objective of this programme is to see at least 20 students from the Municipality graduating each year in science related programmes from tertiary institutions.
