The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has aptly replied former President John Mahama over comments that politicians should exhibit Christ like attitudes.
According to him, the call by the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a vain one considering that he used his time in office as President to facilitate a lot of corrupt programs which had a tolling effect on the economy he left behind for the NPP to fix.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi told Wontumionline.com in an interview that “Jesus Christ doesn’t like darkness but John Mahama deliberately created darkness in Ghana which became known as dumsor. If such a person is telling politicians to exhibit Christ like traits then you have to weigh the message well. He is speaking like that just for votes but doesn’t mean what he is saying. The dumsor Mahama created destroyed homes, businesses and the economy of Ghana”.
Speaking as an invited guest at an Easter Sunday service of the Holy Hill Faith Cathedral in Accra, Mahama used his political journey as an example of how a politician journeys through the field and by so doing takes in a lot of power.
“And so, for me; what I say to Christian politicians is let’s take Christ-like features into the work we do as politicians,” he is heard saying in a video shared on his Facebook timeline.
But the NPP Chairman rubbished his statements noting that under the presidency of Mr. Mahama, Ghanaians witnessed corruption related activities on a daily and added that anybody who understands the teachings of Christ would not have done so.
“Even when you know you had lost power and were leaving, you signed documents to hand over state bauxite to your own brother. Did we ever read in the New Testament that Jesus Christ had given bauxite concession to his brothers before? But John Mahama did the opposite of Jesus Christ. Mahama even went international with his con activities when he took part in an airbus scandal”, Chairman Wontumi explained.
