An Economic & Fiscal Policy Analyst, Julius Gyimah, has stated that the impact of COVID-19 and Russian-Ukraine war should ever be underestimated.
Noting that prior to COVID-19, Ghana was recording a single digit inflation. However, as of March the inflation stands at 41.1%-questioning how we got here if not for COVID-19 and the war.
According to him, this is as a result of the challenges that government is faced with. However, he was quick to add that the Finance ministry are working assiduously to make sure that we can restore our economy so that the balance of payment issues which has caused the country financial instability could be addressed within the one year left for elections 2024.
“We have total accountability to deliver to the people of Ghana, and that is the reason for which we don’t even have to waste our time discussing Professor Frimpong Boateng’s report. It wouldn’t help us”, he advised.
Saying that there’s no truth in the allegations which were levelled against the President in the gold for mafia documentary.
“The Presidency is wasting time dragging this issue when we are also in talks with the IMF for a bailout. These are all frustrations, impediments and hinderances. But as a party, we must make sure that we deliver on our mandate. What Ghanaians expect of us is to salvage them from the hardship they are going through. Rise in cost of living resulting from the global crisis”, he pointed out.
