Government’s Spokesperson, Kofi Tonto, has urged Ghanaians to trust President Akuffo Addo, to put an end to the current economic hardships.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Kofi Tonto was highly hopeful of the current ruling party under the leadership of President Akuffo Addo, to elude the country of economic hardships. He reigned accolades on the President stating some of strategies in managing the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic era amongst others, and claimed that he is determined to work hard towards sustainability, and betterment of the lives of citizens.
In response to the question of the President being capable of overcoming economic hardship, he said ”Why not, we are in difficult times just as the President said during the COVID era if you will remember. I don’t believe this will be the predicament for Ghana forever, with the intelligence and commitment we shall overcome, it is just a matter of time so if the President says that, i’ll agree with him that we will overcome the challenges we are currently facing. It is the inflation in prices of some goods that will take time , but let us not argue over the fact that we’ll overcome, we shall indeed overcome.
If you will remember, petrol skyrocketed to Gh23, and by the grace of God it has decreased to Gh13 as well as the increase in dollar rate which has now dropped, so many things are decreasing gradually so it is patience that we all have to exercise. If IMF goes through, indeed the stabilisation we are all looking forward to will be attained and unlock a lot of opportunities we have been seeking. So i agree with the President that we shall overcome.”
