Dagbon FM presenter, Sadiq Abubakari Gariba, has said that the perpetrator of his attack threatened to kill him if he ever mentions his name again.
The journalist was attacked on live radio on Tuesday, May 2 in what is said to have been perpetrated by one Hardi Pagazaa, a former regional communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He told Kwaku Dawuro in an interview on phone that although the case had been reported to the police and the perpetrator had been invited, he’s yet to honour the invitation.
“I reported the case to the police that very day the incident happened, and I was informed by the CID that an invitation has been extended to him and that he was expected to appear at the police station at 9: 30 am yesterday but he never showed up”, he said.
Lamenting that the police had also not made any attempt to arrest him despite the fact that he had not honored the invitation from the police.
He disclosed that the information minister had called to check up on how he’s doing and had assured him that the interior ministry had been tasked to launch a thorough probe into the attack.
He added that the Hardi Pagazaa had access to the studio because he pretended to have come for an interview and that was how come the security allowed him in.
“I will continue to do my work as a journalist, but it will be out of braveness because I don’t know what might happen tomorrow. Today it happened in the studio on camera, tomorrow I might be attacked on my way to work”, he furthered.
