Nana Oteatuoso Baffour Kokobeng II, has noted that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, contributed to party’s success in the 2016 elections.
Breaking down his point on MOVEMENT IN THE MORNING political show on Wednesday, Nana Kokobeng II, explained that after several attempts by then flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to become the President of Ghana had failed; Chairman Wontumi assured him he will ensure the party emerges victorious in the 2016 elections, after he was elected as the Ashanti Regional Chairman.
“Lo and behold, he worked assiduously to ensure the NPP came to power, as he was able to garner about 1.7million votes from the Ashanti region alone”, he added.
Nana Oteatuoso Baffour Kokobeng II alleged that there have been several attempts to sabotage Chairman Wontumi due to how he’s loved by many- adding that they have no idea about the sacrifices he’s made to ensure the NPP came to power.
He went further to state that President Akufo-Addo is the first beneficiary of Chairman Wontumi’s chairmanship. In buttressing his point, he explained that had it not been for Chairman Wontumi, the NPP would have still remained in opposition.
In that regard, he urged party delegates who will be going to the polls on Friday, to cast their ballot for Chairman Wontumi and described him as the best candidate to ensure the NPP wins election 2024.
“The truth of the matter is that you can never entice delegates with money. Although they will gladly receive it and assure of their vote, they will do otherwise when they get to the polls; they have their favorite choice and nothing could change their decision”, he emphasized.
