The head of monitoring at the National Sports Authority, Kwame Baa Mensa, has expressed worry over the possible implications of changing the incumbent NPP Ashanti regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako widely known as Chairman Wontumi.
In explaining more, he underscored the role of the Ashanti regional chairperson in determining the election outcome of the party.
“Whoever leads the NPP in the Ashanti region will have an upper hand in the entire success of the party; so such a key and important figure like this, you cannot afford to lose at all. Hence, we shouldn’t compromise on the best candidate at all”, he stated.
Mr. Mensa further explained that since the political party has a big ambition of BREAKING THE 8 going into election 2024, the Ashanti regional chairperson plays a critical role. “Bringing the 8 is not about slogans, just as Lord Commey and others have said, therefore we should work towards that,” he noted.
“Chairman Wontumi is an asset to the New Patriotic Party, he’s done so well and deserves our applause, for keeping intact the heartbeat of the party,” he added.
He urged delegates to ensure they vote for Mr. Antwi-Bosiako, whom he believes has the capabilities of ensuring a smooth victory for the NPP.
“Give it to Chairman Wontumi and I’m hopeful that the promise he has made to the party at the national level will be realized, “he assured.
