Central Region Will Forever Remain Grateful To Nana Addo For The Completion Of Elmina Fishing Harbour- Dennis Quaicoo

Central regional 1st vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Quaicoo, has rained praises on President Akufo-Addo for the completion of the Elmina €84-million fishing harbor.

According to him, President Akufo Akufo-Addo has done what Napoleon couldn’t do.

Speaking in an interview on Movement In The Morning Show on Movement TV, he explained that even a former President (ATTA MILLS) and a Vice President (AMISSAH ARTHUR) couldn’t complete such the project in their own home region and had to take President Akufo-Addo who is not an indigene of the town to have completed it.

“There have been several promises to get the fishing harbour completed but all to no avail. Even for those whom the indigenes of Elmina and Ekumfi also cast their ballot for, have never executed such an historic project in a bid to thank them”, he told Kwaku Dawuro.

He noted that the port will boost tourism, increase accessibility of the port and extend its capacity to improve the fishing industry, in Elmina and the Central Region.

“This is not just for Elmina but the entire Central region. We remain grateful to Nana Addo for doing us such an honour”, he said.

Stressing that the gratitude of the indigenes will be translated into votes. Thus, the NPP will snatch the seat from the NDC in the 2024 general elections.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, May 27 commissioned the €85-million Elmina Fishing Port rehabilitation and expansion project in the historic city of Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region.

The construction of the biggest fishing harbour in the region, which was completed in 30-months, has a docking space and deep marine access to ensure the durability and sustainability of the harbour.

The facility comes with marine and civil infrastructure including a south breakwater of 450 metres in length with cubipods round head and a north breakwater of 160 metres in length tied into the existing sea defense.

It comes with a large basin of 65,000 m2 with dredged depths between three metres to five metres and quay walls of total length of 400 metres, including an 80 metres tourist quay at the Elmina Castle.
