Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Educator, Ben Amoako has urged parents to allow their children venture into science and technology.
He said the teenagers have enough energy that needs to be tapped and used to positively impact society at large.
“The world is now about Science and technology. Nowadays, we don’t roam about with applications seeking for jobs. However, before you get out of school as a graduate you should either know what exactly you’re going out there to do, or begin doing something on your own”, he advised.
Adding that the private organizations are the ones running the developed countries and not the government. There isn’t much the government could do and same applies to Ghana and thus, the need to give STEM education the needed attention it deserves.
“Mark Zuckerburg identified a problem and developed a solution which is Facebook and today look at how beneficial the app has been and the kind of revenue its generating. A lot of the big organizations first had to identify a problem within society, and in a bid to find solutions, they are making millions now”, he told Kwaku Dawuro.
“I will urge every parent whose child is in the Secondary School or yet to go, that they allow their wards to venture into STEM so that in the future they will find their own feet to implement things which will in turn become a business”, she told parents.
Stressing that it’s not about knowledge based but then t’s about the ability to solve problems in the country.
