I’m Not Protecting Sex Workers- Koforidua MCE Speaks (VIDEO)

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of New Juaben South, Hon. Isaac Appau Gyasi, has debunked allegations that he connived with certain security agencies to protect some girls who are highly suspected to be Nigerians and are engaging in commercial sex business on the streets of Koforidua.

Speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show with Kwaku Dawuro on Friday June 17, 2022 he indicated that his attention has been drawn to the menace and he stated that plans to eradicate sex business in the Region were far advanced.

“Do you think I can connive with the police to do this? I’m the first MCE to clamp down on such an activity. But the challenge is that there are some informants who give these culprits a tip- off whenever we are embarking on an operation to arrest them.” he said.

Adding that, “I’m a member of REGSEC, and whenever we go for meetings, it’s an issue with my Boss the regional Minister and he always hammer on it. It’s a very serious issue but we need genuine security operatives to do this”.

He refused to disclose what measures have been adopted to deal with the menace but mentioned that plans were far advanced to eradicate the canker.

These girls are allegedly being trafficked by an agent from Nigeria to Ghana under the pretext of securing them decent and well-paying jobs.

Ghana’s Eastern Regional capital Koforidua and some major cities in the region have been flooded by these sex trafficked victims from Nigeria.
