Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Central constituency, Kwadwo Banahene Bediako has noted that the outcome of NPP’s super delegates conference is clear evident that Asanteman is solidly behind Dr. Bawumia.
This comes after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia polled a staggering 97 votes to win the Ashanti Regional Special Delegates election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in polls, defeating Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten a native of the region who managed to pull only 10 votes.
According to the former DCE, he wasn’t surprised about the outcome at all and that if not for some dramas that unfolded Dr. Bawumia would have had more than he did.
Mr. Banahene was speaking on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
“Asanteman has a King…and as stipulated in our law, chiefs are barred from engaging in political activities. However, for Otumfuo to have called Dr. Bawumia his son, it speaks volume of who Dr. Bawumia is…and definitely the indigenes know what to do…Ashanti region has gone for Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. And most times if you realize, when a whole region moves towards a particular direction, then it means that their decisions are solely based on what the grassroots are saying”, he told Kwaku Dawuro.
He added that this is exactly what is going to happen on November 4, and subsequently the general election in 2024.
“The team will not be complacent…we will continue to work even harder for victory 2024”, he said.
