Celestine Donkor Delayed Her Release Date For Piesie Esther’s ‘Mo’ – Manager

Kofi Donkor, the manager of gospel artiste Celestine Donkor has weighed in on the recent controversy concerning the song releases of Piesie Esther and Joyce Blessing.

While Kofi believed no artiste is obliged to change the release date of their song to please anybody, he revealed that are exceptions.

Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Twitter Spaces, he said his artiste Celestine Donkor had wanted to release a song at the end of September but they had to hold on with the release because they knew Piesie was also going to release her new song ‘Mo’ around the time.

According to him, Celestine’s yet-to-be-released song features Piesie Esther so they didn’t want to confuse music lovers with a ‘double release.’

“When we had the conversation, her husband said they had planned to release it towards the end of September so we decided to hold on with our release,” Kofi noted.

This conversation comes on the back of agitations from a section of the public that Piesie Esther should have waited for a while for Joyce Blessing’s ‘Victory’ which was released about two weeks ago, to grow for before releasing her ‘Mo’ song.

Some have suggested that considering the marital struggles Joyce encountered the past few years and the difficulty in getting a hit song after that, it would be nice if Piesie gave her that space to gather momentum with her ‘Victory’ song.

However, some have argued artistes have plans for their music releases; that these release dates are scheduled with music aggregators and digital service providers ahead of time, a reason it will be inconvenient to change one to suit another person.

Paul Azumah-Ayitey, the Communications and PR manager for Boomplay Africa, also said on Joy Entertainment Unpacked that release dates on the online platforms are sometimes changed for musicians in certain situations, even though they come with challenges.

In the meantime, Piesie Esther has said in media interviews that there is no bad blood between her and Joyce Blessing and did not intend to take the shine out of her ‘Victory’ song. Joyce Blessing has posted Piesie’s ‘Mo’ on her social media handles; something Piesie also did for Joyce when her song was released two weeks ago.
