John Boadu Must Be Retained As The General Secretary To Break The 8- NPP UK Branch Chairman

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) UK Branch has thrown its weight behind the incumbent General Secretary, John Boadu who is vying to be retained in the upcoming National delegates conference.

In an interview with the sit-in host Oheneba Asiedu, on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, Chairman for the group, Kingsley Adumattah explained that this has become necessary due to how critical election 2024 is.

“Everybody is talking about breaking the eight and I’m very passionate about the NPP breaking not only the eight, but being in government like the Chinese government; for years like 20/30 years. We need to fix the country- we have to fix this country and how do we fix it?”

Adding that “we’ve tested both major parties in power, one has already spent 8 years in power and the other is yet to complete an eight(8) year term. We should be able to assess both parties, and know which of them deserves another mandate from Ghanaians”.

Chairman Adumattah disclosed that “from my little observation after arriving in Ghana, I’ve noticed that the NPP has been able to tackle a lot of problems in the last five years. So if the party is not able to win election 2024 and power switches to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ,a party that learns from the NPP it will be difficult for the NPP to come into government again- So if we do not mobilize ourselves and reorganize the party for it to look attractive to people and the unfortunate happens, it may take us about 8 years again to come into power not because the NDC will better manage the economy than we’ve done, but because Ghanaians are agitated and upset with the NPP”.

“And if we can be able to break the eight then John Boadu is the engine to drive our vehicle to the top of the mountain; which is breaking the eight jinx, because he’s the tried and tested General Secretary- he’s done it before in 2016 and 2020”.

He stressed that if the party loses him its simply like handing power over to the NDC.

He asked, “how do you give an AK47 gun to someone who hasn’t even used a pistol before?”

According to him, the General Secretary has had the experience and proven his capabilities of using a pistol and shows he can use an AK47 when given the opportunity.

“We had only 105 MPs prior to his election as the General Secretary, but the numbers increased after he was elected. The party had 169 MPs in 2016, but the narrative was different in 2020 and that is normal with any party seeking a second term- If you go to France, President Macron won huge during his first term, but has a minority in parliament in his second term and that’s what happens when you’re seeking for re-election”, he stressed.
