Former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffuor, has advised delegates who will be electing new executives for the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) at the ongoing 2022 National annual Delegates conference to ensure they vote for leaders not on the basis of lip services but on a careful examination.
In a virtual address to delegates prior to the voting on Saturday July 16, the former President stated that “let’s operate democratically the way our tradition demands of us. We need all the unity we can get and master within the party so we approach 2024 with a united front and we will be even more attractive to draw people who are not part of our tradition to us, so we can get the numbers in order to get the 50+1 votes in 2024 as the national constitution demands, to break the eight”.
According to him Ghana needs the NPP to lead it into prosperity and that must be the aspiration of all executives and members of the party.
Adding that “as we meet to pick up a new crop of leaders, I want to appeal to all of you, let us from now select the national executives of the party on basis not on lip talk but on careful examination to find out the kind of leadership that will help us gain the confidence of the people of Ghana, and let us show true respect to the idea that true sovereignty is with the people. When we do that most people will follow and rally with us as a party”.
