Parents and guardians have been urged to continue investing in their ward’s education in order to create a better future and world for them.
Speaking on the sideline of the grand finale of Season Nine (9) of the reading reality show dubbed ‘Book warm’, in Accra, the founder, Mr. Nelson Kofi Poku, said education was a key to national development, and that for children to achieve education excellence, there was the need for parents to support their wards.
The Bookworm Reading Reality Show is an initiative targeted at inculcating reading habits among children in basic schools.
He mentioned that quality education called for sacrifice and that if parents did not invest in their children now, it could lead to the children becoming wayward and a burden not only to their families but also society.
“Education was a shared responsibility and that a country that failed to develop its people intellectually was opting out of the ‘global village’ where knowledge and transformation were the order of the day”, he said.
He called on institutions, organizations and the government to support this initiative, to inculcate the habit of reading into school children.
At the end of the contest on Saturday, March 23, Yasha Dzasi emerged winner, whiles Kelvin Danquah bagged the ultimate for the Upper Primary category, and Kadija Adams, was the winner for the JHS category.
According to the Bookworm CEO, winners are billed for an opportunity to tour Dubai and exchange program opportunity in Canada (condition apply) which would be organized by the Bookworm Avenue Consult and supported by the parents.
They equally received a scholarship package for one year, with some souvenirs from sponsors.
The competition was sponsored by Flora tissues, Top choco spread, Bigoo drinks.
