Chairman Wontumi Drags Fadda Dickson, Nana Ama McBrown And UTV Lapdogs To Court

The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi is dragging Fadda Dickson, Nana Ama Mcbrown, UTV and its lapdogs to court.

Counsel for and on behalf of Chairman Wontumi, Maurice Kwabena Ampaw ESQ., stated I an affidavit of support to the High Court that United Showbiz which airs on UTV, set an agenda which was heavily produced by Fadda Dickson to give Afia Schwarzenegger, the “needed platform to strengthen her case before the court and to seriously prejudice the matter before this Honourable Court.”

The report to the court also contained a portion where Kwame APlus on the same show described the writ before the court as useless.

“That the 5th Respondent is reported to have described the Writ pending before the Court as useless. Attached is a copy of the statement made by the 5th Respondent, reported by Modern Ghana as Exhibit “GAB4”.”

AFFIDAVIT OF IN SUPPORT

I, MAURICE K. AMPAW, of H/No. 755/2, Abiba Lane, Accra, make oath and say as follows: –

  1. That I am the Deponent and Solicitor for the Plaintiff/Applicant herein.

  1. That I do have the authority and consent of the Applicant herein to depose to these facts to matters which are within my personal knowledge, information and belief.

  1. That on the 9th day of June, 2022, I was instructed by the Applicant to issue a Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim against the Defendant/4th Respondent herein, seeking for the reliefs endorsed on the Writ of Summons. A copy of the Writ of Summons and the Statement of Claim is hereby attached and marked as Exhibit “GAB1”.

  1. That several attempt to serve the process on the Defendant/4th Respondent was not successful, so I applied for a substituted service on the 13th day of June, 2022 and same was granted on the 14th day OF June, 2022 for eight (8) days.

  1. That I caused a copy of the Writ of Summon and Statement of Claim to be pasted on the Notice Board of the High Court and also caused a publication to be made on the National Daily Graphic at pages 42 and 43 respectively on the 16th day of June, 2022, edition of the Daily Graphic. 1. That on Saturday, the 9th day of July, 2022, edition of the United Showbiz aired by the 1st Respondent. The 2nd Respondent is the Executive Producer of the show and the 3rd Respondent, the host of the show.

  1. That the Applicant says, the said United Showbiz is one of the most watched Entertainment showbiz in Ghana and has massive viewership on the internet and other channel of broadcast.

  1. That on the said show, the 4th Respondent was given the platform by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Respondents with the support of the 5th and 6th Respondents, as well as other panel members to discuss the 4th Respondent’s alleged sexual relationship with the Applicant, which is a subject matter for determination by the Court and it is subjudice. A video copy of the recorded live show is hereby attached as Exhibit “GAB4

  1. That the 4th Respondent, on the live show stated that, she had had sex with the Applicant and dated the Applicant for 16 months.

  1. That the 4th Respondent made reference to the pending suit in Court and attacked the writ filed by the Applicant declaring the Writ as incompetent.

  1. That in the cause of the show, the 4th Respondent indicated to the 3rd Respondent that her lawyer has advised her to stop discussing the merit of the case on the show, but the 1st Respondent together with the other Respondents on the show ignored the advice from the 4th Respondent’s lawyer and continued to discuss the merit of the case that is pending before the Court.

  1. That I shall contend that the Saturday, 9th July, 2022, edition of the United Showbiz, was a clear agenda and attempt to give the 4thRespondent, the needed platform to strengthen her case before the court and to seriously prejudice the matter before this Honourable Court.

  1. That the conduct and action of the Respondents is contemptuous of this Honourable Court.

  1. That in this circumstance, I humbly pray that such conduct of the Respondents is tantamount to Contempt of Court and warrant their Committal to prison as it will serve as an appropriate punitive action to defer the Respondents and other media houses and the public at large from undermining the authority of the Court when a matter is pending before the Court and to ensure that commentary and discussion on matters pending before the Court will be done with some level of decorum and respect so as not to prejudice and affect the fair trial of cases before the Court.

WHEREFORE, I swear to this affidavit in support of the instant Application.
