Saglemi Housing Project: Works And Housing Ministry To Sign Contract With Investor By August – Spokesperson

Spokesperson for the Ministry of works and housing, Manasseh Atta Boahene has disclosed that a contract is expected to be signed by August, for the completion of the Saglemi housing project.

This comes after the Ghana Institution of Surveyors had estimated that an additional $100 million is needed to complete various projects to make the place habitable.

In 2022, the former Minister for works and housing, Hon. Asenso Boakye approached the Cabinet to secure funding to complete the project. The Minstry was directed to find investors to fund the project.

Speaking on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, Mr. Boahene told Kwaku Dawuro following a request for proposals that was issued by the current Minister of works and housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Ministry has identified ten(10) local and international investors who have expressed interest in the project.

“The investors have been taken on a site visit to familiarize themselves with the project’s scope and on July 8th, an open bid will be held, where investors will submit their printed proposals. An independent technical group will be established to conduct due diligence on the investors and evaluate their bids. This will ensure that the selected investor has the necessary expertise to complete the project efficiently. The Ministry is expected to follow legal procedures,” he said.

“The aim is to sign a contract with the selected investor by August, allowing the contractor to commence work on the project promptly,” he added.

This development is expected to boost Ghana’s housing sector and provide habitable housing for its citizens.
