Lands and Natural Resources Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor has disclosed that the government has settled a long-standing debt of $13 million owed to peacekeeping personnel, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the country’s gallant men and women in uniform.
Additionally, the daily allowances for soldiers have been increased from $30 to $35 per day, providing a much-needed boost to their welfare.
Speaking during the launch of NPP’s manifesto in Takoradi on Sunday, he noted that in terms of infrastructure development, the government has completed Phase One and Phase Two of the Barrack Regeneration Project, a transformative initiative aimed at upgrading military housing. Furthermore, an impressive 583,000 housing units have been constructed to address the accommodation needs of security services personnel.
The government has also invested heavily in equipment and logistics, procuring 933 vehicles, 4202 motorbikes, and 3 helicopters to enhance the operational capacity of the Ghana Armed Forces. Moreover, personnel numbers have been increased by almost 40%, ensuring that the country’s security needs are adequately met.
Minister Jinapor emphasized that these interventions underscore the Akufo-Addo government’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the nation through its unwavering support for the Ghana Armed Forces.
