The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to participate in the upcoming 2024 December polls actively.
Delivering a speech at the Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Dr Bawumia took the opportunity to address the importance of the upcoming elections.
In his speech, he highlighted the role elections play as a cornerstone of Ghana’s democracy, allowing citizens to exercise their right to choose their leaders and shape the nation’s future.
He emphasized that this privilege should never be taken for granted.
Dr. Bawumia urged the public to actively participate in the electoral process, noting that elections are about more than selecting leaders; they represent an opportunity for citizens to advocate for issues that matter to them, such as education, employment, healthcare, and the environment.
He encouraged everyone to take control of their future by making informed decisions at the polls.
In addition, the Vice President called for peace, tolerance, and respect during the election period, stressing the need to reject violence and divisive rhetoric.
Instead, he encouraged constructive dialogue and urged Ghanaians to celebrate their differences as a source of strength.
As the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival brought people together, Dr. Bawumia underscored its significance, reminding attendees to cherish their heritage and work towards a prosperous Ghana.
He expressed hope that the festival would inspire a renewed commitment to the country’s people, culture, and unity.
