We Sacrificed To Defend Rev. Owusu Bempah On Movement TV When Others Remained Silent-Dawuro

Popular radio show host, Kwaku Dawuro, addressed the controversy surrounding comments made about Rev. Owusu Bempah on his program, “Movement In The Morning,” on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.

Dawuro explained that he took full responsibility for the utterances made on the show and apologized to Owusu Bempah on behalf of journalist Dasebre.

According to Dawuro, the decision to apologize stemmed from his role as the show’s host and his commitment to responsible broadcasting.

“When the matter broke out, the whole ‘wahala’ surrounding it was too much. As the head of the show, I hold full responsibility for every utterance made on the show,” he stated.

Dawuro revealed that he had previously defended Owusu Bempah during his issue with Nana Agradaa and emphasized that the cleric’s treatment was unfair. “I made it clear that the way Owusu Bempah was treated wasn’t fair. This is someone who has contributed massively to the success of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Dawuro said.

Notably, Dawuro highlighted his unwavering support for Owusu Bempah, even when others remained silent.

“When Owusu Bempah had an issue with Nana Agradaa, I was a sole crusader for him. Defending him at the expense of party executives. We sacrificed to defend him on Movement TV and Wontumi Radio,” he said.

In contrast, Dawuro questioned why Kwame Amo of Okay FM, didn’t defend Owusu Bempah on his own platform. “Kwame Amo couldn’t even defend his ‘father’ Rev. Owusu Bempah on Okay FM when his issue with Agradaa came up. But he’s quick to report us to Owusu Bempah when negative comments are made.”

Dawuro clarified that Dasebre’s comments did not represent the NPP’s stance, as Dasebre is a journalist, not a party communicator. “Dasebre speaks as a journalist and not on behalf of NPP. So, it shouldn’t be as though it’s NPP that has insulted Owusu Bempah,” Dawuro emphasized.

“As journalists, we don’t always get it right. It’s part of the job. Kwame Amo should stop adding salt to the injury and remind his Rev Owusu Bempah of this reality,” he stressed.
