NDC Fueling Organized Labour Protests- Salam Mustapha Exposes Their Hidden Agenda

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused Organized Labour of having a hidden agenda, claiming their recent actions against galamsey are actually driven by politics.

Specifically, the NPP alleges that Organized Labour’s threats of a national strike and vocal opposition to galamsey are aligned with the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 election strategy.

National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Salam Mustapha, points to a leaked document titled “Winning 2024 And Beyond” as evidence of the NDC’s plan to exploit critical issues like galamsey for political gain.

He questions why Organized Labour has suddenly taken an interest in galamsey after years of silence, despite the government’s efforts to tackle illegal mining.

According to Mustapha, the Akufo-Addo-led government has taken concrete steps to combat galamsey, including passing legislation with stricter punishments and prosecuting offenders like Aisha Huang, who committed crimes during Mahama’s administration.

He argues that Organized Labour’s failure to acknowledge these efforts and their recent activism suggest a politically motivated agenda.

It’s worth noting that Organized Labour has planned a nationwide strike starting October 10 to denounce illegal mining and its environmental impact.

The strike may last several days if the government doesn’t meet their demands.
