NPP Under Bawumia Will Expand Affordable University Accommodations- Former NPRA Boss Discloses

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) education spokesperson, Hayford Attah Krufi, has revealed that the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, plans to expand public university accommodations to make them affordable for individuals.

According to Mr. Krufi, Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto includes a comprehensive plan to address the long-standing issue of inadequate housing for tertiary students.

The plan involves partnering with the private sector to build hostels on university land, thereby reducing costs and making accommodations more accessible.

Dr. Bawumia also aims to create a unified database for all Ghanaian scholarships through his digitalization project. This initiative seeks to ensure equal access to scholarships for deserving students and streamline the application process.

In addition, Dr. Bawumia’s education plan includes providing student loans to support TVET and STEM students’ financial difficulties. Notably, students will only require their Ghana cards to access these loans, eliminating the need for guarantees or collateral.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia has pledged to introduce a comprehensive secondary education system, focusing on improving curriculum relevance and quality, enhancing teacher training and capacity building, and increasing access to education for disadvantaged communities.

Mr. Krufi disclosed these plans on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio’s “Movement in the Morning” show with Kwaku Dawuro.

The NPP’s education manifesto is expected to address the country’s pressing education challenges and provide opportunities for all Ghanaians to access quality education.
