He Is Scared – Ex-GFA Boss Reveals Otto Addo Response On Building Black Stars Around Local Players

Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has revealed that, Otto Addo is reluctant to build the Black Stars around local talent.

This statement comes in the wake of Ghana’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

In an interview with Asempa FM‘s Ultimate Sports Show, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe shared that he had a conversation with Addo at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram, where he encouraged the coach to focus on local players.

However, Addo reportedly replied that he fears being ridiculed if the plan fails.

“I met Otto Addo at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence at Prampram and I encouraged him to build the Black Stars around local players because the players playing in Europe are not the best and they are always careful when they are playing but the coach told me that people will laugh at him if he tries the local players and he fails,” he said.

In the aftermath of the defeat to Sudan, there are growing questions about the players’ commitment.

Currently, the Black Stars find themselves third in Group F, with only two points from four matches. They will regroup for crucial encounters against Niger and Angola in November.
