Ghana Freedom Party Formally Withdraws From December 7 Polls

Credible information available indicates that the Ghana Freedom Party, the party founded by the Late Mad. Akua Donkor has formally withdrawn from the December 7 polls.

The decision was reached after a meeting by the National Executive Committee of the party in consultation with the family of the late founder and flagbearer.

A letter communicating the decision has formally been submitted to the Electoral Commission of Ghana, according to information available to this news portal.

Sources say the party has reached the decision to honour the memory of the late Mad. Akua Donkor by pulling out of the contest and making history “as the only party whose candidate entered the grave with her candidature intact”.

In the letter dated November 4, 2024 and signed by its National Organizer, Richard Botchway, the party regretted any inconveniences the decision may have caused the electoral body and assured them of their participation in any future electoral processes.

Meanwhile the latest letter brings to any form of suspense or apprehension over the participation or non-participation of the GFP following the sudden demise of its flagbearer.
