NPP To Set Up Committee To Investigate 2024 Election Defeat – Stephen Ntim

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to establish a committee in January 2025 to review the circumstances surrounding its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

The National Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ntim revealed this in a press briefing on Monday, December 23. According to him, the proposed Election Review Committee will engage party stakeholders and the general public to identify the factors that contributed to the defeat.

The NPP leadership said they believe that the committee’s findings will pave the way for necessary reforms to strengthen the party and prepare it for future challenges

“The party will in January 2025 set up an effective and objective Election Review Committee to undertake a postmortem into the outcome of the election. The committee will engage all party stakeholders and the general public on the factors and circumstances leading to our defeat.”

Mr Ntim noted that one of the critical areas the committee will examine is the potential need for constitutional amendments and restructuring the party’s internal decision-making processes.

This includes the mode of electing presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as party executives, he added.

He also expressed deep gratitude to all members and sympathisers for their unwavering commitment and efforts during the campaign noting that despite high hopes and intensive campaigning, the party was unable to secure the victory it aimed for.

“We worked tirelessly at every level, from polling stations to the national stage. While we may not have won this battle, our belief in the ideals of a better Ghana shaped by the philosophies of the NPP remains unshaken,” he said.

Acknowledging the disappointment felt by party members and supporters, he assured them that leadership shares in their pain.

“These are challenging times, but we are a resilient party. We will rise again from this defeat …Together, we will get the elephant trumpeting once more,” he assured.
