At Least 35% Of The Population Should Engage In Agriculture- Hon. Wilkinson

Former MCE of Ga West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Clement Wilkinson has emphasized the vital role of agriculture in Ghana’s development.

In a recent interview on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio, he stressed that farming is an essential practice that deserves more attention and support.

Wilkinson expressed concern that practicing agriculture in schools, particularly in tertiary institutions, is often viewed as a punishment. He believes that this mindset needs to change, as agriculture is crucial for the country’s food security and economic growth.

The former MCE suggested that at least 35% of the population should engage in agriculture to promote the farming system. He also offered his support to any Ghanaian willing to venture into agriculture, provided they have access to farming areas.

Wilkinson urged the government to prioritize agriculture, quoting, “Mahama should start now if he will reset Ghana with Agric for someone to continue when he comes.” This call to action highlights the need for a concerted effort to develop Ghana’s agricultural sector.
