The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South MP, Okyere Baafi, has warned that Ghanaians should expect a fiercely assertive minority in Parliament, starting immediately.
Speaking on Movement In the Morning show with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio, the former Trades Minister stated that this will be the first time in Ghana’s history that a government will face intense opposition from the minority less than a month into office.
Breaking with tradition, where governments are usually given a honeymoon period of at least 3 to 6 months, Hon. Baafi emphasized that the minority will not hold back.
“They will have their way on the floor of Parliament, and we’ll have ours outside of Parliament,” he stated confidently.
Baafi’s statement suggests that the minority is prepared to take on the government head-on, ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions.
As he put it, “You’ll clap for us. We’ll show them where power lies.”
This newfound assertiveness from the minority is likely to lead to some intense battles in Parliament.
