Faisal Chibsah Points To Deeper Issues In Black Stars’ Struggles

FIFA High-Performance Specialist, Faisal Chibsah, believes that the challenges facing the Black Stars go beyond the work of the technical team.

His remarks come after Ghana’s senior national team failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years.

During the qualifiers, Ghana played six matches, registering three defeats and three draws, finishing last in Group F with only three points.

The team’s poor performance led to calls from fans for the dismissal of head coach Otto Addo.

Reflecting on the team’s struggles after disappointing AFCON campaigns in Cameroon and Ivory Coast, Chibsah suggested that the issues go deeper than just technical coaching.

“A team with no desire, a team with no commitment, not adaptable and they played with no purpose,” he told Sporty FM.

“They were just passing and playing, and it looked like they were forced to be at the tournament.

“I have followed them, but I think the problem is just bigger than technical,” he added.

Chibsah emphasized that the root of the problem extends beyond just the technical staff’s influence.

The Black Stars will now look to bounce back with improved performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, facing Chad and Madagascar in their upcoming Matchday 5 and 6 fixtures.
