I Focus On The Game, Not Online Distractions – Andre Ayew

Ghana international Andre Ayew has emphasized his commitment to spreading positivity, stating that he steers clear of engaging in meaningless discussions, particularly on social media.

The Le Havre forward has been absent from the Black Stars squad since Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Ivory Coast. Throughout his tenure with the national team, the 35-year-old has often faced criticism over his performances.

In an interview with BBC Africa, Ayew stressed the importance of mental resilience in the digital age, advising players to filter constructive criticism from negativity.

“Everything has a good and bad side, so sometimes try to understand where the criticism comes from – it can help you,” the former Swansea City and West Ham attacker said.

“We play football for the people, especially in our country and continent where we love the game so much.

“But today, if somebody is frustrated, they can just write anything (online). That’s where we need to be strong and not pay attention to that sort of thing.

“You want to make the people happy, but when it’s just nonsense talk, push it away,” he added.
