Nigerian Afrobeats singer Iyanya has responded to growing speculation about his loyalty amid the reignited rivalry between music heavyweights Wizkid and Davido.
This follows a social media comment suggesting the “Sexy Mama” hitmaker had switched allegiance from Wizkid to Davido.
“I thought Wiz was your friend. I’m just wondering why you switched sides and turned into Davido’s boy,” a user tweeted.
But Iyanya was quick to shut down the notion, asserting that he holds no grudges against any of his peers and has always supported good music regardless of who makes it.
“I don’t have an issue with any artiste,” Iyanya explained. “I played Wizkid’s Made in Lagos and Morayo the same way I play every other artiste’s songs. Most artistes won’t say this, but we are the first to listen to other artistes’ projects when they drop. It’s part of our work to stay updated on the sound and the game.”
The singer went on to highlight his relationship with several industry players, noting that he often gets introduced to new music and makes a point of listening and promoting it.
He also shared that he recently partied with Burna Boy, further emphasizing his neutral stance in industry rivalries.
Iyanya’s clarification comes at a time when tensions between Wizkid and Davido fans are once again dominating online conversations.
