Stop Denigrating The Judiciary Because You Lost The Petition You Filed- Legal Practitioner To Mahama

A private Legal Practitioner, Ralph Kwame Agyapong, has voiced strong opposition to the Former President John Dramani Mahama’s comments that the image of Ghana’s Judiciary has deteriorated under the watch of the current administration.

He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV that these comments by the Former President and the NDC, is an attempt to denigrate the judiciary and further undermine public confidence in the justice delivery system.

According to him, all these come at the back of the 2020 election petition that did not go in their favor. ”His only problem is that he wasn’t declared the President after filing a petition at the Supreme Court. But the court works with evidence”, he said.

”Every judge has their independent minds. When you as a former President speak like that, then it’s like you’re saying their decisions are influenced which cannot be so, because even the high court judges wouldn’t do that. You don’t just denigrate the court”, he fumed.

Stressing that ”If you have any problem with the 7 judges, then you should file a legal process against them individually, there’s a procedure for that. He should take that action and stop denigrating the judiciary”.

Addressing participants at the NDC’s Lawyers’ Conference on Sunday, Mr. Mahama noted that a trusted Judiciary is a critical ingredient in safeguarding the country’s democracy.

This he said, however appears to be missing as many citizens openly ridicule the Judiciary as the ‘Unanimous FC’; a coined term which connotes the collectiveness of thoughts in recent rulings of the apex Court.
