Mahama Is Inciting The Public Against The Judiciary And Must Apologize- Manso Nkwanta MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso Nkwanta, Hon. George Kwabena Obeng Takyi, has stated that former President Mahama must retract and apologize to the Judiciary service for certain utterances made against that arm of Government.

According to the lawmaker, former President Mahama has a different motive for the comments made, as he’s trying to tell Ghanaians that he will overturn the law to ensure that he goes beyond the one term he has, in an unlikely event that he wins the 2024 elections.

”He’s preparing us for a different thing in the future so that in any unlikely scenario that he wins power, he will change the Chief Justice even if his time isn’t up yet. He should be made to explain and retract what he said. Power belongs to Ghanaians, and the law of the land has shown clearly how to appoint Judges and it’s this same law that governs the country”, he explained.

”It’s very pathetic that in this country when one needs power, they say things they want but do otherwise when they win. There are certain things which shouldn’t be politicized. Mahama has some selfish and parochial interests”, he noted.

Asking that ”was it not the same law used in appointing Judges during his tenure that has been used to appoint the new ones too. In any case, has he forgotten, there are still some Supreme court judges who ruled in his favor during the 2012 election petition, who are still at post. So what yardstick did he use to appoint them that this time around he’s criticizing them?”

He went further to say that former President Mahama is inciting the public against the Judiciary- so that they can never trust the Judicial system of the land and will therefore take the laws into their own hands in seeking for justice.
