A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sulemana Abubakar popularly known as Lakulaku, has stated that some civil servants are more corrupt than politicians, however the finger is always pointed at the politician.
He said this after a Chinese woman known as Aisha Huang was arrested for indulging in illegal mining (galamsey).
According to him, most of these illegal activities are as a result of the corrupt nature of some civil servants.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning, he said that ‘’the people who supported Aisha Huang are civil servants. But almost everyone is pointing at politicians. She entered the the country during President Kufuor’s era, but she didn’t get the chance to indulge in her illegal activities, and when she later came back, the people at the various post supported her in her activities”.
“Who signs the check?”, he interrogated.
“The Minister does not sign the check- the accountant does right? We end up saying politicians are corrupt but there is no corrupt persons in this country than civil servants. If we go with the directions of President Akuffo- Addo in the fight against illegal mining, illegal mining will be eradicated, and the future of Ghana will be bright”, he stated.
“Government must collaborate with the chiefs in the various mining communities and come up with a 40% agreement for any invester who come into the community for mining activities. These monies will be used for community development project”, he added.
He admonished citizens to support the fight against galamsey.
