Breaking The Eight-Years Jinx Requires Our Collective Effort- Weija-Gbawe MP Advises

The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe constituency, Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mensah, has expressed confidence in her party’s ability to break the eight-year political jinx in the upcoming 2024 general election.

According to her, although it’s possible, it requires a collective effort- noting that the current crop of leadership is determined to ensure the party achieves this unprecedented feat but cannot do it alone without everybody on board including the grassroots members.

“Breaking the eight is more than reality from where I sit. It is because we want to make it a reality that’s why as a Member of Parliament, I’m working assiduously toward achieving this feat. Some of us have been serving the party for about thirty years and until recently, we weren’t made to serve on any board, nor made a Municipal or District Chief Executive (MMDCE)-however, we were never disappointed as we continued to serve the party in all our capacity”, she told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV.

Adding that “I have lost several elections but still didn’t lose guard. I call myself a Grassroot member and I do everything I have to do for my people as an MP, not in terms of monetary aspects but interpersonal relations alone speak volume. I understand the Grassroot perfectly. There will be some who will not open their doors to the grassroots, but I mean what does it takes to be nice to people. There are others who don’t even need money only they consider is your reception. How nice you will receive them”.

She advised government appointees to ensure that they are not power drunk because they would be in power forever.

“We know we have worked hard but we should know that the grassroots also have a role to play”, she concluded.
