The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Mr Ben Ephson has predicted that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will win the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearship race, whiles Kennedy Agyapong will come second.
He said this during a phone interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Monday 26th September, 2022.
In justifying his predictions Mr Ephson said that ‘’NPP delegates are mainly made of young people. Alan Kyeremanteng picked and launched the Alan Cash campaign 15 years ago- delegates who are over 30 years will have less information about him. Kennedy Agyapong on the other hand has worked for the party for 22 years, and that gives him more chance than Alan Kyeremanteng. Most of the delegates will vote for Dr. Bawumia because the party is likely to lose votes in the Northern region if they do without him in 2024. Former President John Mahama once said the party is using Dr. Bawumia for their personal interest, and that statement is working in Dr Bawumia’s favor”.
”I will be surprised if Dr Bawumia does not win the flagbearership race, Kennedy Agyapong will come second with Alan Kyeremanteng taking the third place”, he added.
Since 2004, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) strength in the Northern Region has declined – the peak was in 2004 when it declined to 60.1 and 62.6 in 2020. NPP’s on the other hand are gaining strength in the Northern Region from 34.3 to 46.4.
