The Greater Accra regional communications Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adam Sabo, has questioned the NDC on what exactly necessitated their move for an IMF bailout.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio, Mr. Sabo said that “What actually took them to the IMF? it’s basically high interest rate, inflation and budget deficits among others, and these were purely managerial deficiency and not due to any external shock like we are witnessing- It’s simply because they couldn’t manage the economy. They cannot therefore compare themselves to us when it comes to the management of the economy of this economy”.
He added that “if you look at it holistically, most often than not, it pains me that when I speak people think I’m defending the government because I’m a NPP activist. But the truth must be spoken. Speaking the truth devoid of politics, you will realize that the NPP has been outstanding when it comes to the management of the economy”.
He went further to say that during President Kufuor’s era, the country became a lower middle-income country. But the narrative was different after the NDC took over.
“Although we are in difficult times, the policies and interventions by the government is salvaging the situation”, he stressed.
