A Database Is Crucial In Breaking-The-Eight- Adenta Kumi.

A communication team member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alfred Ababio Kumi who is also known as Adenta Kumi has stated that in order for the mantra of breaking the eight-year jinx to be realized by the party, the registration of its members cannot be over emphasized.

According to him, the essence of a political party is to capture power and the process of doing that is through elections of which numbers play a critical role and therefore if a political party doesn’t know the number of its members, it becomes difficult in taking certain decisions.

He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV that “for election purposes, it’s important to register your members for you to know the numbers you need. For example, there’s research conducted, and you’re told you need about 40,000 people to win an election, and the members you have are about 38,000, quickly you’re able to inform yourself to know what to do in order to cross the 40,000 marks. If we don’t get the numbers to vote for us, how do we break the eight?”

“One may ask why it is necessary for a political party to register its members. First of all, every political party is a political party when it’s in power. Although you’re a political party when you’re in opposition, you’re more a political party when you’re in power. We need a database of our members. And this will provide us with their personal information”, he explained.

This comes after the General Secretary of the NPP, Justine Koduah Frimpong had issued a communique that the party will soon begin registration of its members.

Adenta Kumi further noted that the move will help with the collection of revenue to steer the affairs of the party.

“Secondly is revenue-we had about 6 million votes in 2020. Whatever we have to do to ensure these people register with us we must do. One thing we should know is that everybody who votes for or supports a political party wants to feel like a part owner of the political party. People want to feel like they are members of a thing before they contribute. Mind you, there are people who don’t pay dues because they don’t have party card”, he stressed.
